The Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association published the results of its recent member survey. The top issue in the neighborhood was Crime and Safety. Zoning /Neighborhood Character was a close second with BID Retail Development well behind in 3rd place. Next came Traffic Within the Neighborhood and Parking nearly tied some distance further behind.

The new Lowry Medical Plaza office building has reached completion in Cross Winds Business Park on Lowry Boulevard. The 2-story 34,000 SF medical office building is adjacent to the 78,000 SF Lowry Medical Center which was build in 2005.

According to Lowry Link, the Buckley Annex redevelopment plan was scheduled to move to the Lowry Redevelopment Authority (LRA) planning review process, starting with a combined meeting of the Lowry Planning/Disposition Subcommittee and the Community Advisory Committee. However, due to comments and questions raised at a neighborhood meeting and by Councilwoman Marcia Johnson, the LRA has extended the process. The LRA will investigate the financial implications of the heights and density represented in the plan. Neighbors argue that the 6 and 7-story residential buildings proposed for the site are too dense. The site is at the SEC East 1st Avenue/Monaco Parkway. The Air Force plans to sell the site to an as yet unselected private developer after the zoning is approved. The parcel is not a formal part of the Lowry Redevelopment, but it is subject to the LRA development review process.

Western Development announced that NorthCreek, the new retail and residential development on Fillmore Plaza in Cherry Creek North has leased 3,000 SF to Hermes, the French luxury store known for handbags and scarves. The former Chase Bank building has been demolished and construction of Phase III of North Creek is underway. Plans for Fillmore Plaza itself have not been announced.

Bill Husted in the Denver Post reports that Chinook Restaurant is moving from 3rd/Detroit to Greenwood Village. The owners, Clemens and Manfred Georg wanted to try moving from garden level to street level space complained that the neighborhood was changing from rich to very wealthy with many empty homes.

Neighborhood Flix has opened in the Tattered Cover complex at the former Lowenstein Theatre on Colfax Avenue. The 3-screen complex is reported by Life on Capitol Hill to have comfortable seats with trays and cup-holders, spacious aisles and a gourmet menu with entrees from $7 to $11 to complement $10 movie tickets.

The Oakbrook Corp. closed on the sale of its 411-unit Uptown Village high-rise apartment complex located at 300 E. 17th Ave in Denver to Maxx Properties for $74.2 million - $180,000 per unit. Amenities include a fitness center and swimming pool, 24-hour maintenance, hair salon and parking. Maxx Properties plans to make a substantial investment in upgrades to the property

Hypo Real Estate Capital Corp. recently responded to allegations made in a suit filed by Randy Nichols regarding the financing agreement made for the Spire ccondo development under construction at 14th & Champa streets in downtown Denver. Filed in Federal Court in Denver, the response counters the allegations made by Nichols in the suit filed in September. Completion of the project was anticipated for 2009, but construction is now at a standstill. Nichols developed Clayton Lane in Cherry Creek North.

A public workshop is scheduled for this Wednesday at the Denver Design Center to discuss the former RTD Bus Barn at SEC of West Alameda Avenue and South Santa Fe Drive. The discussion will focus on future redevelopment of the site, which is near the Alameda light-rail station and the interchange of Alameda and I-25.

The Denver Urban Renewal Authority has approved an agreement with Oakwood Homes to redevelop the Dahlia Square retail center. Located between East 33rd and 35th Avenues and Dahlia and Elm streets, the new plans call for the construction of up to 130 town home-style residences on the site. Former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb and former Cherry Creek developer Jim Sullivan were formerly involved with the redevelopment, but are not now. Oakwood Homes is the major developer of Green Valley Ranch near Denver International Airport headed by Pat Hamill.

Union Station Neighborhood Co. has announced new plans for the redevelopment of the historic Union Station downtown. The new plans will result in all rail lines being placed above ground and will also place an underground regional bus facility at the site via the realignment of 18th street. The company made the changes to accommodate the commuter rail line planned for the FasTracks Gold Line route and the disinterest expressed by the Federal Railroad Administration in placing Amtrak tracks underground at the site. Approval of these changes must still be gained before construction can begin. The change is expected to lower the costs and allow for the possibility of extending the rail service south from the station at some future date.
